Not only did she motivate the next worthy ho who wanted a rise in the game, but she set the standard for my pimpin'. I called her Ivy, because she made me a much better pimp. She helped me elevate my pimpin'.
This is a direct quote and it somehow is very much alike the corporate BS. And there is a lot more! There is a lot about 'true leaders'. About making 'the shit happen'.
About how 'You set the standards and I'm wondering: can I unsee this one? About how 'You set the standards and the trends people follow' And so on and on and on What the hell?
I don't know who was trolling whom while writing this 'pimpology' stuff but it's either pimps that decided to go corporate on the readers' asses or it's management consultants who decided to take some generics on prostitution and make it relevant to corporate woes. However entertaining this might be heavy emphasis on might! Jan 17, Jennifer Lucking rated it did not like it Shelves: pimp-culture. He attempts to sell the notion that his experience being a pimp in the sex trade can be used to teach others about how to succeed in life in general. Every chapter or "law" begins with an example from "The Life" i.

The best gifts aren't handed to people, but are shown to people, so they can work for themselves. To be valued, the key is not to give, but to receive - the more, the better. People tend to act the way they look, so make sure you look like a winner. And tons more. Pimpin' Ken is actually legit. He has produced a movie and is out there in mainstream media. Look him up. Dec 10, William O. Perez rated it liked it. First off, there is very little on this Earth I hate more than a pimp. They are opportunistic slave owners. I picked up this book because I had great interest in understanding how a pimp gains power over another person to the point that they make them do anything they ask.
This book certainly didn't deliver that. Instead it offered a set of lessons that this individual learned through this lifestyle. These lessons have their value. I found the book fascinating with mind boggling information and also the dynamic between real life and pimping.
It gave me a different view on things and Pimpin Ken dropped some real nuggets. To own, control and not get used. Apr 22, Maribeaux rated it liked it. I had to check this book out after it was mentioned on a human trafficking Ted Talk by Markie Dell. Very hard to read if you find profanity appalling. Ken's use of that kind of language does add some reliability and insight into the world of pimping, however it also shows a lot of egocentrism and narcissism and I have a feeling that some events have been exaggerated for the purpose of believability.
As disgusting as the reality of pimping might be, Pimpin' Ken is an invidual of his own explaining I had to check this book out after it was mentioned on a human trafficking Ted Talk by Markie Dell. As disgusting as the reality of pimping might be, Pimpin' Ken is an invidual of his own explaining his own philosophy of life, how he looks at the world around him, because of the way he was brought up.
What I mean is, he has chosen his own values in life, he has his own definitions and ways of explaining and justifying things and if you ask me, yes, they are flawed but that's a matter of perspective , and before you begin reacting to how he sells ideas about manipulation and sexism, pay attention to the environment he describes that nurtured his future as a pimp.
Look around you. Just like for every pimp, his goal was wealth and power and if you space-out the idea that this book is about exploiting women, you can get some pretty good lessons to apply in social and personal matters and even prevent yourself from being victimized. It would have been interesting to know more about white pimps as well, but I understand that Ken comes from a black community and that's what he knows best. I do not think, however, that there would be much difference.
Sep 28, Mike rated it really liked it. Loved the pimping references tied to real life. Beleive it or not, I'll be using some of this when it's time to get a job! I enjoyed the break from my regular books. Feb 08, Punkinguts rated it did not like it. Worthless, basically. Ken just restates witty sayings from much smarter people and applies it to his horrifying industry. Don't waste your time. Read a real self help book instead.

It is very good advice. My friend and I saw this in the bookstore and thought that it looked hilarious so I bought. Yes, it was hilarious. My favorite part was how he rhymed a lot of his sentences. He was like a pimping Dr The pimp has reached nearly mythical status.
